Facelift Surgery by Scottsdale Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Berardi
A facelift, or rhytidectomy, is a surgical procedure that improves visible signs of aging in the face and neck. Facial features are the very foundation of a person’s distinct appearance but, unfortunately, they are also the most delicate features and susceptible to significant change over time due to a variety of factors that may include heredity, gravity, environmental conditions and stress.
Scottsdale plastic surgeon, Dr. Joseph Berardi’s approach to facelifts is the most comprehensive treatment of facial wrinkles and sagging. A facelift removes excess skin, tightens underlying tissues and muscle and repositions skin on the face and neck, enhancing features of the face and giving patients a more youthful, vibrant appearance.
A facelift can correct sagging, marionette lines, jowls, deep creases below the lower eyelids, fat that has fallen or disappeared and a double chin.
Facelift surgery with Scottsdale plastic surgeon, Dr. Berardi is performed under general anesthesia, begins with an incision within your hairline, follows along the front of the ear and then along the back of the ear. Dr. Berardi then lifts the skin to expose the underlying anatomy. Dr. Berardi will then remove and/or re-arrange underlying tissue while simultaneously lifting it to a higher position on the face. The excess skin that remains will then be completely removed. The procedure is often complemented by fat removal or soft tissue augmentation through liposuction surgery and/or fat grafting. For a more comprehensive treatment, Facelift can also be performed in conjunction with other cosmetic procedures, including browlift, blepharoplasty and neck lift. Once this is complete, Dr. Berardi closes the incision with sutures and bandages are placed on the face to promote fast, safe healing.
Dr. Berardi is board certified by American Board of Plastic Surgery. For more information on facelift surgery and to make an appointment for a consultation, contact him at any time.
